What is simultaneous interpretation?

The spoken text is transferred into the target language simultaneously or with a short delay. For this purpose, special conference equipment is required (booth, microphone, headsets, receivers for the audience). As a rule, there are two interpreters working in each booth, taking turns at regular intervals.

What is whispering interpretation?

Whispering interpretation is a subcategory of simultaneous interpretation, which is only suitable for small groups of listeners (approx. 3 persons), since the interpreter sits with the audience whispering the speech in the target language without any technical support.

What is consecutive interpretation?

In contrast to simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation consists of translating the original speech in sections to the audience. For this purpose, the interpreter makes use of special notetaking and memorizing techniques.

What is liaison interpreting?

In liaison interpreting, the interpreter is seated between two or more participants for whom he usually translates back and forth in consecutive sections.
